I have a 1967 camaro that I drive once maybe twice a year, today the trans slipped. Is it inactivity?
I drive the car once or twice a year. Today after 15 minutes of driving the transmission slipped. I continued to drive it and it didnt slip again. The Trans was rebuilt about 12 years ago and has approx 5000 miles on it. Could the transmission be going bad or is it just due to inactivitity? Will driving it a bit correct that by lubricating everything or is this something worse to come? It doesnt leak a drop and is full of fluid

Yes..........It is going bad, due to inactivity.
What happens is the fluid in the transmission , as it sits, only keeps about one third of the clutches and steels immersed in fluid. So, the steels are exposed to air and moisture and will corrode, and the clutches (steels with a PAPER friction material) dry out and embrittle. So you start the car, and drive, and you have dry clutches that are trying to grab steel that is rusty..........BAD!!! They will wear out in a matter of minutes, loading everything like the converter and the valve body, with burnt trash. You should have the transmission rebuilt with a High Quality kit like a TCI Master Racing kit with the optional High Quality RED clutches. After you do that , please drive the car AT LEAST once a month to keep all of the internals saturated in oil.
BTW...........it is a master racing kit, but it wont make it a "racing" transmission, the kit only contains heavier duty quality parts.
