Why did Henry Ford publish the "Protocol of Zionest" as he was a Freemason member?
Did he know that this protocol was forged by an antijewish group from France?
"The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion" claims to be a documentary part of a secret plot by Jews to take over the world. The "Protocols" are indeed completely bogus. And, yes, the "Protocols" has its origin in France, in that the basis for the forgery was a pamphlet written by Maurice Joly in 1864. His pamphlet - a "dialogue in Hell" between Montesquieu and Machiavelli - was intended as a satire on what Joly believed were the ambitions of Napoleon III. It did not mention Jews or Judaism at all.
The "Protocols" fabrication was apparently made in Russia around 1900 by members of the Tsar's secret police, and they have been exposed as bogus numerous times. However, as you point out, Henry Ford used the "Protocols" for material published in his newspaper, The Dearborn Independent. The Independent did not publish the "Protocols" directly, but rather used them as the basis for a series of anti-Jewish attacks over the period 1920 - 1927. These attacks were published in a section of the Independent called "Mr. Ford's Own Page."
A Jewish lawyer sued Ford, and in 1927 Ford recanted his anti-Semitism and apologized to the plaintiff and to the Jewish people. The case was settled out of court. One of the claims Ford made in his apology was that he had no knowledge of what had been said in the Independent, including that which had appeared on "Mr. Ford's Own Page." To what extent that is true cannot be known, but it is known that "Mr. Ford's Own Page" was written not by Ford, but by W. J. Cameron.
What this has to do with the Freemasons I don't know. As to whether Ford had knowledge of what was being published in his own newspaper under his own name - well, you may draw your own conclusions.
